SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Students who live too far from a state university to attend or those who just want to study from home may now earn a master’s degree in business from their living rooms.

Cal State Dominguez Hills will start a program this fall that allows students to watch TV broadcasts of all 15 classes required for a master’s degree in business administration.

KLCS Channel 58 will air the programs. The classes will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday and Sunday starting Aug. 27.

Classes will be taught at the Carson campus, and some students will attend the weekend lectures.

Students watching at home will be able to consult instructors by telephone and to submit course work by modem.

The first two classes will be “Business Economics” and “Finance and Business Management and Marketing.”

Every seven weeks, students will gather at the Dominguez Hills campus to meet with instructors and other students.

The cost for the program is $199 per unit. School officials estimate it will take most students 2 1/2 years to complete the 45-unit degree.

The program is open to students who earned a bachelor’s degree with a grade-point average of at least 2.75 in their last 60 units.
