Earthquake Loan Workshops: The first in a new series of workshops designed to help businesses apply for earthquake related loans from the Small Business Administration will be held Wednesday in Van Nuys. Seven more in the series, sponsored by the Valley Economic Development Center, the city of Los Angeles, the state, the SBA, the Small Business Development Center and the Los Angeles Times, will take place in the San Fernando Valley through Sept. 7. The workshops, similar to those hosted by the VEDC immediately after the January temblor, is targeted for earthquake-impacted businesses that have not yet submitted a loan application to the SBA or have been turned down for an SBA loan. Topics to be discussed include how to appeal a loan denial or reapply for a loan, relocation assistance and how to obtain bridge loans. One-on-one counseling is also available. Reservations for the workshops are required, and can be made by calling (818)989-4377.
