Four people were killed in three Antelope Valley traffic accidents over the weekend, authorities said Monday.

The first occurred in Palmdale at about 11:40 a.m. Saturday. Mario Flores, 45, of Littlerock was driving south on 106th Street East when he allegedly ran a stop sign at Avenue T and collided with an eastbound Cadillac.

Flores, who was driving despite having a suspended license, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and manslaughter, California Highway Patrol officials said.

In the second accident at about 8 a.m. Sunday, Herman St. Aimie, 28, of Los Angeles apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his Jeep Wrangler as he drove west along Avenue K in Lancaster, authorities said. The vehicle drifted onto the road’s dirt shoulder of the road, striking and killing a pedestrian, Walter Crocker, 69, of Lancaster, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

St. Aimie told authorities he was unaware that he had hit anyone. He was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

Later Sunday, also in Palmdale, a collision occurred at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue P in Palmdale when Jesus Hernandez, 22, of Palmdale allegedly drove his Volkswagen Rabbit through a red light, authorities said.

The Volkswagen struck a southbound Ford Explorer, which had a green arrow and was turning east onto Avenue P. The Volkswagen then spun out of control and struck a Pontiac Grand Prix that was westbound on Avenue P and turning north onto Sierra Highway, sheriff’s officials said.

Passenger Toni Frederico, 13, was killed. She was ejected from the Volkswagen’s rear window, landed under the Pontiac and was dragged 40 feet, according to Sheriff’s Deputy Dave Davidson. Hernandez was taken to Palmdale Hospital Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition. Neither was wearing seat belts.

Sisters Heather Miller, 14, and Leann Miller(, 15, were also in the Volkswagen and suffered cuts and bruises, Davidson said. Both were wearing seat belts and are listed in fair condition at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center.

Palmdale residents Judy Lamar, 44, who was driving the Ford and Edward Esteavan, 33, who was driving the Pontiac, sustained minor injuries.

The accident occurred at about 7:20 p.m. Hernandez is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and faces arrest on a felony manslaughter charge, Davidson said.
