17-Year-Old Is Killed in Car Collision
A 17-year-old San Fernando youth was killed in an auto collision at Sepulveda Boulevard and San Fernando Road, police said Wednesday.
Marvel Williams was a passenger in a car traveling north on Sepulveda when it collided Tuesday with a car traveling east on San Fernando, Los Angeles Police Officer Bill Mulvihill said.
The driver, Amy Safarik, also 17, of Valencia, was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills with severe head and facial cuts, Mulvihill said.
Witnesses told investigators that they watched Safarik run a stop sign at the intersection, said Detective Rick Talkington. He said he expects to submit the case to the district attorney’s office for possible charges.
Joann Virant, 21, of Saugus, the driver of the other car, was not hospitalized.
