Bicyclists Broke Law, Made an Enemy

Share

As a bicycle enthusiast of over 30 years, I find that I have nothing but contempt for the organizers and participants in the bicycle demonstration (Aug. 19) in Huntington Beach. While there are valid reasons for bicycle commuting, the participants in this action are clearly in violation of California Vehicle Code No. 21202, (which states) bicyclists must ride, in a single line, as close to the right-hand curb as possible. As such, all of the participants in the critically mass brain-dead ride should be given tickets and have their bicycles impounded pursuant to CVC 39012.

(In) making several passes up and down the construction-clogged section of Beach Boulevard, while there are parallel avenues with generous bicycle lanes, these politically correct yuppies not only put themselves in danger but the safety of automobile passengers as well. It’s obvious that these bicyclists were not going from work to home and as such constituted a parade without a permit. Since the Huntington Beach police didn’t ticket these morons, I’ll personally see the next participants at curb side with citizen’s arrest citations.
