Tom Shales is flogging the message because he doesn’t like the messenger (“TV Nation: Making a Point or Just Making Fun?,” TV Times, Aug. 7). The only people humiliated on Michael Moore’s “TV Nation” (NBC) are the ones who think they’re acting in a reasonable manner but aren’t. No one has to go before Moore’s cameras! In doing so, they humiliate themselves.

The NAFTA piece updated us as to what’s gone on since NAFTA passed. The segment on the cab drivers passing the “good” black guy in favor of the “bad” white one doesn’t make fun of anyone. It just highlights how stupid racial stereotypes are. We didn’t find the story about the Prairie Correctional Facility critical of the citizens who built it. We found it an example of the spend-craziness of lobbying the government for new facilities when others are available.

We appreciate this worthwhile program but fear that unjust panning by Shales will get it scrapped in favor of more mindless entertainment.
