Sterling Sharpe caught a 14-yard touchdown pass one day after threatening to sit out the 1994 season in a contract dispute, and safety George Teague intercepted two of Warren Moon’s passes in the Green Bay Packers’ 16-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.

Sharpe, who staged one of the shortest walkouts in history on the eve of the season opener, agreed to adjustments in his contract late Saturday after he skipped practice, stayed out of the team photo and threatened to sit out the season.

The reception leader the past two years, Sharpe reportedly was promised a $7-million bonus before next season.

Moon, making his debut for Minnesota, completed 20 of 37 passes for 166 yards, with three interceptions and no touchdowns. He was sacked three times.

Sharpe caught seven passes for a game-high 53 yards, including a touchdown from Favre with 9:03 to play in the second quarter that made the score 10-0. Favre found him all alone in the right corner for the score, ending a 45-yard drive.

Favre completed 22 of 36 passes for 185 yards with no interceptions in his first game since signing a five-year, $19-million contract, the richest in club history.

Moon was another story. Acquired from Houston in the off-season to enliven Minnesota’s downfield passing game, he couldn’t get the Vikings past the Green Bay 45 until late in the third quarter.

Still adjusting to an offense that uses multiple sets and a tight end after four years of running the Oilers’ run-and-shoot, Moon looked tentative when he didn’t find his first receiver. One of the sacks was by his former Houston teammate, Sean Jones.

“Warren’s an old friend, but they blow the whistle and it’s time to play,” Jones said.

Moon took the blame, even though his receivers dropped several passes.

“They just have to get used to me,” Moon said. “The ball probably gets on them a little quicker than what they’re used to.”

His first pass bounced off Qadry Ismail’s hands and into Teague’s, setting up Chris Jacke’s 25-yard field goal with 7:37 remaining in the first quarter.

Teague also picked off Moon’s pass in the second quarter, grabbing the ball at his 30 after the pass bounced out of Jake Reed’s hands.

Teague had a trying off-season since his 101-yard interception return for a touchdown against Detroit in the playoffs last year.

He had to care for his ill mother and doctors diagnosed him with a thyroid condition that sapped his strength and stamina.

With Green Bay leading, 13-3, early in the fourth quarter, Favre fumbled inside his 20 and defensive end James Harris picked up the ball and ran 13 yards for a touchdown.

James Willis ended Minnesota’s final threat with his first career interception, at the Green Bay 22 with 1:52 left in the game.
