San Francisco Coach George Seifert said tackle Harris Barton and guard Ralph Tamm, who make up the right side of the line, will be sidelined indefinitely because of injuries suffered against the Raiders.

The injuries leave the 49ers shorthanded as they prepare for Sunday’s game against Joe Montana and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Acting baseball commissioner Bud Selig has set Friday as the tentative deadline for canceling the season.

“I don’t think (Sanders) will make any kind of decision until then,” Dolphin General Manager Eddie Jones said. “I think that’s the driving force right now.”

The deadline means Sanders could be available to play football as early as next week.

Sanders is committed to completing the baseball season with the Cincinnati Reds before switching to football.
