A 15-year-old girl and a 58-year-old man were stabbed and two people were arrested in separate incidents early Friday in Simi Valley and Oxnard, authorities said.

In Simi Valley, a 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing of a girl about 5:30 a.m. at her house in the 3700 block of Diamond Court, Simi Valley police said.

Detective Bill Daniels said the girl was stabbed several times in the upper torso with a kitchen knife. He said Efren Zendejas Avalos, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, also suffered severe lacerations to his right hand.

Both were taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where the girl was reported in serious but stable condition Friday evening. Earlier, she had undergone surgery to determine the extent of her injuries, the detective said.

Avalos, whose relationship--if any--to the girl was not disclosed, had lived at the house with the teen-ager, her father and another woman, Daniels said. He declined to give further details.

In Oxnard, a woman was arrested in connection with the stabbing of her husband about 12:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of N. H Street, police said.

The victim, Henry Gomez, who was stabbed twice in his upper torso, was reported in fair condition in the intensive care unit at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
