Garfield 23, Lincoln 8--Garfield quarterback Eddie Hermoso threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs at Garfield.

Following a fumble recovery on the opening kickoff, wide receiver David Gonzalez caught a 20-yard touchdown pass on Hermoso’s first attempt on third down and six. Lincoln then drove to the Garfield 40, but defensive back Jesse Villalobos intercepted Hermoso’s pass to stop the Tigers.

Hermoso, after connecting with Rudy Burruel on a 29-yard pass play, threw a 37-yard touchdown on the second play of the third quarter to give Garfield a 13-0 lead. Hermoso finished with eight completions in 13 attempts. Lincoln’s lone score came on Ronnie Cardiel’s eight-yard pass to Hiram Andrade one play after an 84-yard kickoff return.

The Bulldog defense, led by lineman Richard Deluna and linebacker Tony Zamorano, held Lincoln to 100 total yards.
