Screenwriting Competition for Ethnic Minorities

The fourth annual entertainment industry-sponsored screenwriting contest for ethnic minorities is under way, with the deadline for submissions set for Dec. 16.

Conducted through the American Film Institute’s National Writer’s Workshop, the contest will give the winner a $500 scholarship and exposure to agents, studios, producers and directors.

Sponsorship-- The sponsorship of the Ethnic Minorities Screenwriters Contest, the deadline for which is Dec. 16, was incorrectly identified in an article in the Sept. 13 Calendar section. It is sponsored by the National Writers Workshop; it is not affiliated with the American Film Institute, although it was formerly known as the AFI Alumni Assn. Writers Workshop. Contestants must be of African American, Asian, Latino, Native American or Eskimo descent.

Applications for the contest are available by sending a 52-cent stamped, self-addressed legal size envelope to National Writers Workshop, Ethnic Minority Contest, P.O. Box 69799, Los Angeles, 90069.
