Former Ram running back Cleveland Gary was jailed briefly in Stuart, Fla., after being charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license.

Gary, 28, was booked into the Martin County Jail on Monday and released after paying $250 bail for the June 29 incident. He was taken to jail after appearing in court to answer a separate charge of driving with a revoked license on June 7.

The former University of Miami star was declared a habitual traffic violator when his license was revoked in August of 1990. He was cited for speeding twice that year.

In 1991, he was allowed to drive for work purposes only, but that privilege was withdrawn in 1993 after Martin County deputies stopped him twice for speeding.

The Dallas Cowboys were considering signing Gary after he was cut by the Rams two weeks ago, but decided against it after learning Gary had undergone an emergency appendectomy in Miami.

Running back Eric Metcalf and safety Eric Turner of the Cleveland Browns were arrested on reckless driving charges, two radio stations reported. WWWE in Cleveland and WTVN in Columbus reported the two were in separate cars on Interstate 480 in suburban Independence when they were arrested Tuesday afternoon. The radio station said each player was charged with reckless driving and weaving in and out of traffic. Police said the players were released on $420 bond each, according to the radio station.
