AIDS BENEFIT: Musical groups from three Roman Catholic parishes in the San Fernando Valley will perform at an AIDS benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. today at St. John Eudes Catholic Church in Chatsworth.

Proceeds will go to the Serra Project, a group of AIDS hospices for men, women and children run by the Los Angeles archdiocese.

EvenSong, based at St. John Eudes, and Joy of Harvest from St. Bernardine of Siena, Woodland Hills, are ensembles that often perform contemporary liturgies. The third group is the St. Charles Borromeo Contemporary Choir from North Hollywood.

Admission is free but donations will be collected during the concert. Refreshments will be served.

For information, call the Chatsworth church, located at 9901 Mason Ave., at (818) 341-3680.

BAPTIST EXECUTIVE: A Baptist congregation in Granada Hills will observe its delayed 40th anniversary Sunday by hearing from a former member who became a missionary in Africa and an executive in the American Baptist Churches in the U.S.A.

Duncan McIntosh, commissioned by Woodley Avenue Baptist Church to serve as a missionary in Zaire, is now manager of the denomination’s division of evangelistic and new church ministries at American Baptist headquarters in Valley Forge, Pa.

McIntosh will be the guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. service at the church, 10341 Woodley Ave., which will include slide, photo and video presentations throughout the building.

The congregation of about 75 members originally scheduled its 40th-anniversary celebration for Feb. 7, but the Northridge earthquake on Jan. 17 wrought substantial damage, forcing the services to be held in temporary quarters until Easter.

The Rev. Richard Ketchum, the current pastor, said the congregation will hold an anniversary banquet at 3 p.m. at Sepulveda United Methodist Church, 15435 Rayen St., North Hills, which has larger banquet facilities than the Baptist church. Former pastors Ed Ervin and Bob Bard will take part in the banquet program. For information, call (818) 368-7794.

CREATIONISM: The Bible Science Assn. of the San Fernando Valley is hosting a free breakfast Thursday at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills for pastors, church leaders and school leaders.

The breakfast, featuring speaker Ken Ham and the film “The Genesis Solution,” was described by spokesman Mark Armitage as a kickoff meeting for a scheduled “creation science seminar” Jan. 20 and 21 at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley.

For reservations, call Armitage at (805) 498-3940.
