PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : It Could Have Been Worse for Denver
The Raiders’ 48-16 victory in Denver on Sunday might have been the low point for the Broncos in this long and heated rivalry.
An even lower point might have occurred off the field in the Mile High Stadium parking lot had not saner heads prevailed.
A Denver radio station was threatening to replay over and over the tape of the season-ending leg injury suffered by Raider fullback Napoleon McCallum on opening night. That tape was to be the lowlight of a tailgate party.
Officials of both the Broncos and the city of Denver were prepared to take action to prevent the tape from being shown.
When contacted by the Broncos, station officials insisted it had all been a joke and that they had never intended to actually play the tape.
