PREP FOOTBALL : Young’s Running Leads Fullerton Past Glenn, 41-7

Chris Young rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns as Fullerton beat Norwalk Glenn, 41-7, Thursday night.

Young scored on runs of 31 and 14 yards, and had a touchdown run of 47 yards called back because of a clipping penalty.

Fullerton built its big lead early. Glenn quarterback James Young fumbled on the fourth play of the game, and Fullerton’s Joseph Emigh recovered.

On the next play, Fullerton quarterback Gabe Almanza, who was making his first start of the season, connected with Jayson Garcia on a 40-yard touchdown pass for a 7-0 lead.

On Fullerton’s first possession of the second quarter, Young capped a six-play drive with a 31-yard touchdown run.

Tyler Brickell gave Fullerton (3-2) a 20-0 halftime lead when he intercepted a pass by Young and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown with 1 minute 30 seconds left in the half.

Fullerton capped its scoring on a two-yard run by John Wilkie, Young’s 14-yard run and a 61-yard punt return by Kyle Overby.

The Indians’ defense shut out Glenn (1-3-1) until the 2:40 mark of the fourth quarter, when Chris Harris caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Young.

Almanza completed nine of 12 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.
