WEST HOLLYWOOD : Simpson’s Son Questioned in Hit-Run Accident

24-year-old son could face misdemeanor charges for allegedly driving away from the scene of an accident in West Hollywood, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman said Monday night.

The crash occurred about 2 a.m. Wednesday on Santa Monica Boulevard, Deputy Matthew Rodriguez said. Jason Simpson, who is not a licensed driver, ran his Jeep Wrangler into the rear of Olga Claveria’s 1994 Nissan pickup, Rodriguez said.

“The Jeep then sped away without stopping and was pursued by a witness who wrote down its license plate number,” Rodriguez said.

Deputy Rich Erickson said Simpson “met with our investigators at West Hollywood Station on Sunday, and during that discussion he admitted that he was driving the Jeep at the time the collision took place.

“What we’re looking at so far are charges of hit-and-run and driving as an unlicensed driver in the state of California, both of which are misdemeanors,” Erickson said.
