OXNARD : 5 Held on Suspicion of Selling, Using Heroin

Five Oxnard residents were arrested on suspicion of selling and using heroin at a local motel, authorities said Saturday.

The arrests marked the end of a six-week investigation that began when neighbors of the E-Z Motel in the 500 block of East Date Street in Oxnard complained about blatant narcotic dealing in motel rooms and the parking lot, authorities said.

Arrested on suspicion of being under the influence were Alma Rosa Martinez, 33; Tamara Christine Ervin, 22, and Mona Lisa Mejia, 22, police said. Charles Smith, 22, and Jorge Blanco Mendez, 20, were arrested on suspicion of selling heroin, police said.

Martinez, Ervin and Mejia have been released from Ventura County Jail. Smith and Mendez were being held Saturday in lieu of $20,000 bail, authorities said.
