FULLERTON : Kidnaper Apologizes, Releases Victim, Police Say

Share

A Fullerton woman was released unharmed by a man who apologized for abducting her at gunpoint from a Beach Boulevard supermarket parking lot early Sunday morning, police said.

Two witnesses saw the kidnaper surprise the woman as she was loading groceries into her car at 3 a.m. at the Ralph’s market at 5400 Beach Blvd., said Sgt. Jeff Kingsbury of the Buena Park Police Department. Witnesses said the man had a handgun and put it to the woman’s head before ordering her to get in the passenger side of her car. He then drove the car away, Kingsbury said.

The two witnesses tried to follow the car but the kidnaper eluded them by driving without headlights on Beach Boulevard, Kingsbury said. They then called police, Kingsbury said.

A short time later the woman, whom police did not identify, called police and said her abductor had taken her back to the parking lot, apologized for kidnaping her, gave her a hug and ran away, Kingsbury said.

“She had handed him her jewelry, but he threw it back at her and said he was sorry and then fled,” Kingsbury said. “She was upset, but she didn’t lose anything but a little time and a sense of security.”
