Baseball Errors

Share

W.P. Kinsella’s interesting column (Opinion, Oct. 16) contains two errors obvious to any old-time baseball fan.

The Boston Braves runner almost picked off first base in the 1948 World Series by Bob Feller of Cleveland was Phil (not Don) Masi. The Yankee pitcher in a later World Series whose bid for a no-hitter was spoiled with two outs in the ninth inning by the Brooklyn Dodgers Cookie Lavagetto’s clutch hit was Bill Bevens (not Stevens).
