After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost, 41-16, to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Candlestick Park, Coach Sam Wyche said of his team’s aggressive style of play:

“We didn’t come here to play courtesy football. At least we wanted to establish toughness, that we were a mean . . . nasty football team.”

Comment from C.W. Nevius of the San Francisco Chronicle: “Here’s a suggestion. If you want to look mean, why don’t you start by taking that plumed fop with the pencil-thin mustache off the side of your helmet?

“It’s hard to scare anybody when the side of your head looks like Louis XIV.”
