GARDEN GROVE : Fire Department Joins Emergency Task Force
The City Council has authorized the Fire Department to join a task force that helps perform rescues during major emergencies and disasters.
The Urban Search and Rescue task force is made up of representatives from federal, state, county and local agencies. Members have been called to such emergencies as the 1989 San Francisco earthquake.
Fire Chief Vincent Bonacker said last week that Fire Department employees have participated in the task force’s work for three years. He called on the city to formalize its participation.
