TIMELY HELP: Ronald Reagan’s Alzheimer’s disclosure, to increase awareness, is already having a dramatic effect here. Monday morning, says Linda Scheck, director of the Alzheimer’s Assn. of Orange County, “Our phones were going crazy.” . . . The group’s annual conference is Friday at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Anaheim, and the announcement has greatly increased interest in attendance. Adds Scheck: “It’s kind of like a coming out, and we thank him for that.”

NIXON & MAHONEY: Richard Nixon gets his name on a plaque at the new La Habra community center, at La Habra Boulevard and Euclid Street, where his old law office used to be. But some visitors at the dedication Monday (B2) wondered why the tiny patch of green at the corner is named Mahoney Park. . . . . Says City Manager Lee Risner: “It started as a joke and developed into a serious thought.” Councilman William D. Mahoney had complained the corner was ugly, and needed grass and pretty flowers. Now it has.

TOUGH LOVE: With a book like “Sweet Revenge (How To Get Back at Men Who Have Wronged You),” readers may wonder if the authors, Devra Rossi of Newport Beach, right, and Elizabeth Wright of Fountain Valley, have ever been burned by the men in their lives. Answers Wright: “What woman hasn’t?” . . . . The two discuss their book Wednesday on the Sally Jessie Raphael talk show (Channel 4, 3 p.m.) One tip from the book: Get a picture of him naked and fax it to his office.

ADD LOVE: A different view on love comes late-night on Anaheim’s KDOC-TV’s, Channel 56, “The Love Channel,” which features longtime radio personality Jim (the Poorman) Trenton of Newport Beach. The show includes medical experts and some celebrities, dispensing advice on romance, sex and health to young callers. . . . This month, the show went national: It’s been picked up by Network One, a 24-hour cable satellite network.
