PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Hostetler Will Walk Off Toe Injury

Quarterback Jeff Hostetler was scared at first, he was sore for a while, but he apparently was not seriously injured Sunday when he hyperextended a toe on his left foot.

Hostetler was knocked out of the game in the fourth quarter at Anaheim Stadium when Ram defensive lineman Gerald Robinson crashed into him as he was completing a pass to Tim Brown.

“He’s walking a little gingerly, but we expect he’ll be OK by the end of the week,” said Coach Art Shell on Monday.

Shell would not speculate on how much work Hostetler will get in preparation for Sunday’s game at the Coliseum against the New Orleans Saints.

Most of the Raider injuries are in the secondary. Cornerback Albert Lewis (sprained right knee) and safety Derrick Hoskins (sprained left ankle) sat out Sunday’s game. Lionel Washington, Lewis’ replacement, was hurt when he bumped knees with Ram receiver Flipper Anderson. Lewis is not expected to play Sunday, but the others could be back if their recuperation continues as expected.

Offensive tackle Gerald Perry, who has missed the last four games because of a broken right ankle, is expected to start practicing this week.

How long until he plays?

“If he doesn’t have any discomfort, then we’ll sit down and talk about it,” Shell said.
