PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Perry and Trapp to Start Sunday

One in and one out for the Raiders.

Offensive tackle Gerald Perry, who has sat out four games because of a broken right ankle, will return to the starting lineup Sunday against the New Orleans Saints at the Coliseum.

Robert Jenkins, who filled in for Perry, will return to his backup role.

Lionel Washington, who started at right cornerback last week, will be forced to give way to James Trapp because of a bruised calf muscle. Trapp, who started several games last season as a fifth defensive back in nickel coverage, will be making his first start this season.

Washington, who sat out practice all week, might play some Sunday, but Coach Art Shell wasn’t optimistic.

“It doesn’t look good,” Shell said.

Washington had been in the starting lineup in place of Albert Lewis, who will sit out his second consecutive game because of a sprained right knee.

Quarterback Jeff Hostetler, who jammed three toes in last Sunday’s game against the Rams, seemed almost fully recovered Friday, planting his left foot and throwing the ball as if he had not been hurt. Hostetler had been limping noticeably earlier in the week.

Hundreds of disadvantaged youngsters will attend Sunday’s game as part of Touchdown For Youth, a program jointly sponsored by the Raiders and the Los Angeles Sports Council. Each $40 contribution gives a youngster transportation to the game, a ticket and refreshments. Anyone interested in donating to the program can call Darryl Dunn of the Sports Council Foundation at (213) 482-6333.
