New World Names International TV Chief

Armando Nunez Jr. has been named president of New World International Television Distribution. James M. McNamara, president and chief executive of New World Entertainment, says Nunez was appointed to the newly created position to tap into the vast potential of international sales and co-productions.

Nunez formerly worked as executive vice president of international sales at Viacom Entertainment/Paramount Television Group. New World Entertainment is a subsidiary of New World Communications Group.

* David Sameth has signed an exclusive production agreement with Universal Pictures. He will leave his job as a Universal production executive to form the company. Sameth joined Universal in 1987 as vice president of creative advertising.

* Robert E. Barron has been named senior vice president of finance for Twentieth Television’s network TV division. Twentieth Television is a unit of 20th Century Fox. Barron formerly worked as vice president of international finance at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

* John C. Reece is the new vice president of information technology for Time Warner Inc. He was formerly an executive with insurance company Alexander & Alexander.

* Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has named William A. Jones executive vice president for corporate affairs. Jones came to MGM in 1983 and served as general counsel for 11 years.

* David Brenner has been named senior vice president of sales and marketing for advertiser-supported programming at MCA Television and Home Entertainment Groups.

* Colette Sartor and George Cheeks have joined the law firm of Sinclair Tenenbaum & Olesiuk as entertainment associates.

* Bob Cahill is the new senior vice president of field marketing at EMI Records.

* Cynthia Lieberman has been named vice president of television marketing for Samuel Goldwyn Co. She was formerly executive director of Warner Bros. domestic television distribution. The company has also hired Ilyse B. Horowitz as director of creative advertising.

* Elizabeth Rezler has been named director of the music division at Warren Cowan & Associates. She is the founder and former president of Midtown Press Records.

* Ed Solorzano is the new vice president of development for Patchett Kaufmann Entertainment.
