Woman, Dog Die in Laguna House Fire
An unidentified woman and a dog were killed Tuesday in a fire that engulfed a house in the 400 block of Blumont Street, according to fire officials.
About 20 to 25 firefighters from Laguna Beach and the Orange County Fire Department responded about 7 p.m. after a neighbor alerted them, according to Battalion Chief Joe McClure.
By the time firefighters arrived, the house, built in the 1930s, was engulfed in flames. It took just over an hour to control the fire, McClure said.
The woman’s body was found in the kitchen-living room area. Neighbors said the victim was retired and lived alone with her dog.
There were no winds at the time of the fire, McClure said, and nearby structures that were threatened were protected from the fire.
