PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Humphries Fine After Surgery

Share

San Diego Charger Coach Bobby Ross said quarterback Stan Humphries should be ready to start against the Rams on Sunday despite having arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow Monday.

“The swelling was minimal and the pain is minimal,” Ross said. “Stan is fine; we’re expecting him to work (today). They took some loose bodies out of his elbow that were causing a lockup. It was an uncomfortable feeling to step underneath the center and have your elbow lock on you. It was a distraction.”

Ram President John Shaw confirmed he met with officials from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week in Los Angeles.

The Buccaneers are for sale and have been courted by St. Louis and Baltimore, cities also vying for the Rams’ attention.

Jack Donlan, one of three people gathering offers for the Buccaneers, has been a longtime friend of Shaw, who said Donlan stopped by for an update on the Rams’ situation.

The Rams are continuing to examine documents related to a possible move to St. Louis, and while St. Louis would like a decision by Dec. 1, Shaw said he does not expect a final determination before Dec. 5.

They’re billed as two of the top young tailbacks in the NFL, but San Diego’s Natrone Means and the Rams’ Jerome Bettis will try to break out of slumps Sunday.

Bettis has rushed for only 42 yards in the past two weeks and hasn’t surpassed 100 yards rushing in a game in six weeks. Means gained 55 yards against Kansas City two weeks ago and had 59 yards Sunday in a loss to New England.
