Share

Foothill High School Principal Janis Jones has been appointed assistant superintendent for instructional services of the Tustin Unified School District.

Dan Brooks, principal at A.G. Currie Middle School, will take over Jones’ position at Foothill High School. Both changes will take effect Jan. 30 and a temporary principal will be named at A.G. Currie Middle School.

The school district announced the appointments recently, following changes in several management positions. Jones replaced Julie Hume, who will return to her job as director of curriculum planning.

Hume was named temporary assistant superintendent for instructional services after Peggy Lynch, who held the position, was appointed superintendent of the Brea-Olinda Unified School District.

Jones served as Foothill High School principal for three years, and was widely credited with the school’s designation as a California Distinguished School this year. She has previously worked in the Perris Union High School District and the Huntington Beach Union High School District.

Brooks has been with the Tustin school district for 10 years, including the past three years as principal of A.G. Currie Middle School, which also was named a 1994 California Distinguished School.

A former assistant principal at Hewes Middle School and principal at W.R. Nelson Elementary School, Brooks is the president-elect of the Tustin School Management Assn.
