OUTLOOK
The Rebels could be quite good if two key players can return from injuries. Nguyen, a first team all-league selection (and the only such honoree from the Orange League to return), had back problems that forced him to miss the summer league games. But Snider says the recovery has been “almost miraculous; he’s now practicing at or near full speed.” Dougan sustained a broken leg last June. “The cast came off in November and he’s a bit overweight because he couldn’t move around,” Snider said. “But the shooting touch is still there.” As it is, the Savanna roster is experienced--10 seniors--and strong; at least five players bench press 250 pounds or more. There’s another “X” factor; Long Beach Jordan 6-4 transfer Lee Myers. “He’s raw, but he’s extremely gifted and can run like the wind,” Snider said. “He can be an impact player, but it may take until league before he’s comfortable.”
