PANORAMA CITY : Man Slain by Robber in Apartment Parking Lot
A 23-year-old Panorama City man died after he was shot twice by a robber in the parking lot of his apartment building, Los Angeles police said.
Jose Torres had driven his family into the lot of their apartment building about 8:30 p.m. Monday. As Torres was leaving his car, the robber grabbed him by the neck, Sgt. Joseph Brazas said. Torres was carrying his baby and managed to hand the child to his wife, who fled inside the building.
The robber took Torres’ wallet, which contained no money, Brazas said. Torres died Tuesday at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
The gunman was still being sought Friday night.
