COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Golden West Sweeps Past Mt. SAC Into State

Becca Flotz had 17 kills as Golden West rolled past Mt. San Antonio in three games in a Southern California playoff match Tuesday in Huntington Beach.

Vanessa Dahl added 10 kills for Golden West, which won, 15-12, 15-8, 15-4. With the victory, Golden West advances to the State tournament that starts Friday at DeAnza College.

Golden West, under Coach Albert Gasparian, has won three of the past four State titles. Gasparian has a record of 257-32 in 13 seasons.

In another playoff match:

San Diego Mesa 3, Orange Coast 1--Heather Bassett had 17 kills as San Diego Mesa beat visiting Orange Coast, 15-3, 14-16, 15-12, 15-3. Heather Daze had 14 kills for Orange Coast.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Orange Coast 83, Santa Barbara 34--Visiting Santa Barbara (1-7) made one of 20 shots in the first half and OCC led, 38-9, at the break. America Robledo made 10 of 12 shots and finished with 20 points for OCC.

In nonconference men’s basketball:

Fullerton 76, Rio Hondo 72--Scott Davis had 25 points for Fullerton.
