PACOIMA : Yaroslavsky to Lead Christmas Parade

Share

Los Angeles City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky will be Supervisor Yaroslavsky when he performs his duties as grand marshal of Pacoima’s annual Christmas parade Dec. 10.

Yaroslavsky, who represents the 5th Council District, won his bid to succeed Supervisor Ed Edelman and will represent Pacoima and the rest of the 3rd Supervisorial District, which covers most of the San Fernando Valley, beginning Sunday.

“We thought he was a good choice (as grand marshal) because we’re the people who will have to live with this guy for the next few years,” said Ed Kussman, secretary of the Pacoima Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event.

City Councilman Richard Alarcon was grand marshal last year.

Other personalities scheduled to attend include Diane Diaz of KNBC news and Kim Fields, star of the television show “Living Single,” Kussman said.

The parade, which will feature floats, drill teams, dancers and marching bands from area high schools, will begin at 10 a.m. at TransWorld Bank, 13657 Van Nuys Blvd., proceed down Van Nuys Boulevard to Glenoaks Boulevard and end at the Boys & Girls Club of the San Fernando Valley, 11251 Glenoaks Blvd.

The annual Christmas festival will be held at the Boys & Girls Club after the parade, featuring games and booths promoting nonprofit organizations.
