CAMARILLO : Spraying Opponents to Hold Meeting

Share

A group opposed to the aerial spraying of malathion over eastern Camarillo will host a town hall meeting Monday that will feature a panel of doctors and scientists specializing in the health effects on people exposed to pesticides.

The meeting will be held in the Orchid Room of the United Food and Commercial Workers Hall, 816 Camarillo Springs Road, Camarillo, said Terri Gaishin, chairwoman of Group Against Spraying People, or GASP.

Ventura County Supervisor Maggie Kildee will moderate the meeting.

Gaishin said GASP seeks to present the public with alternative views from medical doctors and scientists on the health effects of the spraying, which has been ordered by state agricultural officials to combat the Medfly infestation, discovered Sept. 29 in an east Camarillo orange grove.
