PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Chandler Wants a Place to Start
Quarterback Chris Chandler, who will work as backup to Chris Miller on Sunday, said he will be looking for the opportunity to be a starter when he decides where he will be playing next season.
Chandler signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the understanding that he was No. 2 to Miller, who received a three-year, $9-million deal.
In four starts, Chandler is 2-2 while completing 62.9% of his passes with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Miller, 2-6 as a starter, has completed 51.9% of his passes with 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Said Chandler: “Ultimately, you’d like to know you are the No. 1 guy, but at the very worst you’d like to compete for the starting job. Anywhere you go, be it here or somewhere else, that’s something I’m going to want.”

The Rams said Thursday they had fallen 32,234 tickets short of selling out Anaheim Stadium in time to lift the local television blackout for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. . . . Miller has claimed released quarterback T.J. Rubley’s number. Miller, who had worn No. 13, will wear No. 12 against the Saints.
