O.C. Parks: How do Orange County’s theme parks rate? Not very high, according to the Applause Award, presented annually by the International Assn. of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
This year’s award went to Universal Studios Florida in Orlando. Other finalists were Universal Studios Hollywood in Universal City; Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va.; Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio; Ocean Park in Hong Kong, and Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia.
Orange County’s two major parks have not always been overlooked. Disneyland won in 1980, and Knott’s Berry Farm in 1988.
