CAMARILLO : Tree Lighting Event Features Songs, Santa
Holiday carols, candy canes and a visit from St. Nick will be the order of the day Friday at Constitution Park as city leaders gather to flip switches to light Christmas decorations at the park and City Hall.
The 10th annual Holiday Lighting Program will feature traditional holiday songs performed by a local elementary school, bands and a student choral group from Camarillo High School.
The 6:15 p.m. event will also feature a performance by the Music and Visual Arts Chorus before the Camarillo Hospice Tree of Life and other City Hall trees are lit.
“This program has become a very popular tradition in Camarillo, and it’s one the city is very pleased to sponsor,” said Mayor Michael Morgan. “I can’t think of a better way to start the holiday season.”
A precursor to Saturday’s annual Camarillo Christmas Parade, the lighting ceremony will conclude with a visit from Santa Claus, who will distribute candy canes to all children in attendance.
