Photographs of Orange County youths who were killed in 1993 are being sought to be featured in a documentary film being produced in an effort to curb youth violence.

A group of South County volunteers began working on the half-hour film project last year as a result of incidents in which several Orange County teen-agers were slain. It is entitled “Lost Future” and is designed for 13- to 18-year-old viewers.

“Lost Future” will present the life of a teen-ager who died last year after being speared in the head with a paint roller rod. The documentary will be hosted by two teen-agers who will show home videos, pictures and letters of the dead teen-ager and discuss ideas about reducing youth violence.

The film will conclude with the photographs of the youths who were killed, producer Phil Martin said. He said he hopes to receive photographs of all 65 youths who were killed in 1993.

Photos should be mailed to Martin at Crown Cable Television, 2215 Mission Road, Alhambra, Calif. 91802, by Jan. 15, Martin said.

The documentary is expected to be ready to air on local cable channels by mid-February.

Martin said some school districts have expressed interest in using the film as an educational video in classrooms.

“The end result we’re looking for is that kids discuss the problems and solutions for youth violence,” he said.
