PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Angelos-Buccaneers Talks Progressing
Peter Angelos, controlling partner of the Baltimore Orioles, met for more than two hours Friday with trustees trying to sell the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and reported “substantial progress” in his effort to buy the team and move it to Baltimore.
“We had some very fruitful discussions and they will continue,” Angelos said. “We are making substantial progress.”
Angelos has also been negotiating to purchase a minority interest in the Rams and move them to Baltimore, but he admitted his city has fallen behind St. Louis in the race for the Rams.
“Certainly, St. Louis is substantially in the lead,” Angelos said. “But I don’t think it’s a done deal. That can change overnight.”
