Pepperdine Loses Fifth in a Row
Things went from bad to worse for Pepperdine’s basketball team Saturday night.
The Waves committed 28 turnovers and lost to Boise State, 74-53, in a nonconference game at Boise, Ida.
It was the fifth loss in a row for Pepperdine (1-5), the team’s longest losing streak since a six-game skid in 1986-87.
The start is Pepperdine’s worst since the 1973-74 season.
Only two Pepperdine players scored in double figures. Junior center Gavin Vanderputten scored 13 points, and sophomore guard Gerald Brown had 10.
Boise State’s All-Big Sky center John Coker, meanwhile, had 21 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore forward J.D. Huleen had 14 points and senior guard Sherman Morris 10 for the Broncos.
Boise State (4-1) led only 29-23 at halftime, but outscored the Waves, 45-30, in the second half.
