MISSION VIEJO : Appeal Heard Today on Day-Care Center
The City Council today will hear an appeal of a recent Planning Commission decision that rejected an application for an expanded day-care center.
In a 4-to-1 vote last month, the commission voted against the center and said the neighborhood site had too few curbside parking places.
Carman Altamirano, who lives and works at 28885 Woodcreek, had been allowed to watch over six children.
When she wanted to expand her business to care for as many as 12 children, several neighbors complained about the potential danger extra traffic might create for their children.
Commissioners argued that Altamirano’s home is on a cul-de-sac where there is little curbside parking.
Other city officials had recommended approving the application, saying the expansion would create little extra traffic.
