3% Water Rate Increase Expected

Customers of Calleguas Water District will probably see a rate increase of about 3% next year, General Manager Donald R. Kendall said.
The district supplies water to about 75% of the residential customers in Ventura County.
Kendall said an expected increase of between 6% and 10% was averted by a restructuring of the rates by the Metropolitan Water District.
The additional revenue will pay for capital improvements to the water system, including a second feeder line to back up the main line that brings Northern California water to Calleguas customers.
The exact amount of the increase will be set by the Metropolitan Water District board this month, finalized in March and take effect in July, Kendall said.
