Two men--one armed with a handgun--robbed Korb’s Trading Post in Ventura just moments before the clothing store closed for the night, authorities said Wednesday.
Korb’s employees were ringing up a sale for their last customer shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday when two men burst into the Ventura Road store and demanded money from the cash registers, authorities said.
The robbers ordered two women working in the store and the customer to lie on the floor and instructed another employee, Brad Bjork, to clean out the cash register where he was working.
“Fortunately, we had recently cleaned the big bills out of the register,” Bjork said. “We felt real fortunate they didn’t get more than they did.”
After stuffing cash from the register into a plastic bag, the robbers told Bjork to lie on the floor, Bjork said. The robbers then fled.
Ventura Police Department officials said robberies such as Tuesday’s usually increase during the holiday season.
