A suspected Thousand Oaks gang member and an 18-year-old Oxnard man suffered minor injuries in a scuffle involving as many as a dozen teen-agers at The Oaks mall, sheriff’s deputies said Thursday.
The short-lived, possibly gang-related melee, involving rival groups from Thousand Oaks and Oxnard, started Wednesday night outside a video arcade and poured out the north entrance of the Thousand Oaks mall, deputies said.
While on foot patrol, a security guard radioed for assistance and a sheriff’s deputy who was there on another call responded immediately.
The teen-agers scattered in the parking lot as four sheriff’s cruisers converged.
The 16-year-old Thousand Oaks youth, who suffered a split lip, did not wish to file a complaint, nor did his 18-year-old rival and another 17-year-old Oxnard youth, Sgt. Mike De Los Santos said.
