CANOGA PARK : Teen-Ager Charged in Passenger’s Death

A 17-year-old Canoga Park youth was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter after the car he was driving hit a parked truck Wednesday, killing his 18-year-old passenger, police reported.
The boy was driving south on Fallbrook Avenue when his car hit a parked stake-bed truck near Marlin Place at about 1:30 p.m., according to police.
Tara Coplon, 18, of Canoga Park, was pronounced dead at West Hills Medical Center shortly after the accident, police said. Witnesses told police the car entered the parking lane for no apparent reason, said Los Angeles Police Detective Rick Talkington, who said Coplon was identified as the youth’s longtime girlfriend.
