Outage Cuts Power to 1,600 Homes
About 1,600 homes lost Christmas tree lights and all their other electrical power in Saturday night’s heavy downpour, according to officials with the Department of Water and Power.
In Encino, about 800 homes lost power just after 6 p.m. In West Hills, another 800 lost power about 7 p.m. Neither area had power restored as of 9:30 p.m., said DWP spokeswoman Debra Sass.
Sass said crews were unsure what caused the outage, although they believed the problem to be weather-related. Correcting the problem was expected to take several hours.
