NHL, Players Might Resume Talks

Share

Negotiations between representatives of the NHL and its players association, which stalled in the past week and further jeopardized the start of the 1994-95 season, might resume today or Wednesday at a site to be determined.

A league source said he was “virtually certain” a meeting would be arranged today, but was not sure if it would take place today or be put off until Wednesday. No talks were held Monday.

No full-scale negotiations have taken place since Dec. 6 between Bob Goodenow, executive director of the NHL Players Assn., and Commissioner Gary Bettman. However, subcommittees from each side have met three times to discuss possible solutions to the lockout, which is in its 88th day.
