VENTURA : Man, 35, Killed in High-Speed Crash
A 35-year-old Ventura man was killed after his vehicle veered off California 118, overturned and slammed into a power pole, authorities said Saturday.
Darrel Copeland died en route to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, shortly after the crash at 9:25 p.m. Friday.
Copeland had been driving at a high rate of speed in his 1988 Ford Bronco when he failed to make a right curve just west of Mesa School Road.
His vehicle then ran off the south shoulder, flipped over and hit the utility pole, according to the California Highway Patrol.
