Calabasas Chamber of Commerce members who don’t honor their New Year’s resolutions regarding physical fitness have a lecture coming.

Gina Cool, a fitness expert, will address chamber members at a breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Thursday at the Edmund D. Edelman Tennis and Swim Center, 23400 Park Sorrento. She will offer tips on sticking to diets and other health-related matters.

It is all in keeping with the theme of staying healthy, said Dan Huncke, manager of the center, which has been undergoing renovations.

“There will be a morning stretch before breakfast, as kind of an icebreaker to get people loosened up,” he said. “Then, depending on how they feel, they may do some aerobic, cardiovascular exercises before they settle in.”

And only wholesome foods such as fruit and bran muffins will be served, he said. “We will keep it as low-calorie as possible.”

Cost is $10, including tips. For information, call Arlene Bernholtz at the chamber at (818) 222-5680.

The event will include a tour of the facility, which was built in 1968 and purchased by the city last year, Huncke said. Renovations to the clubhouse have been completed and new clay tennis courts have been installed, he said. Also, one room has been repainted and will be used for karate and yoga programs.

Continuing renovations include construction of an outdoor multipurpose court, which will be completed this spring, he said. Also, funding has been obtained for a fitness center replete with strength training and cardiovascular equipment.
