Obituaries : Lydia R. Milani; Longtime Resident

Lydia R. Milani, an Oxnard resident for 58 years, died Friday after a lengthy illness. She was 74.

She was a retired Western Union office manager. The Topeka, Kan., native began working for Western Union in Oxnard during World War II. She also served as an air warden during the war, said John Milani, her husband of 54 years.

Milani said the two began dating when she was 16 and he was 24. They married four years later.

“I’ve known her my whole life,” he said.

She is also survived by her brothers, Edwin and Robert Weigel, both of Oxnard; and sister, Sylvia Watkins of Lindale, Tex. She is also survived by five nephews and nine nieces.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of James A. Reardon in Oxnard.
