Help Sought in Hit-and-Run Case

Share

The California Highway Patrol has issued a call for help in tracking down the car and motorist involved in the hit-and-run death of a 10-year-old South Los Angeles girl.

Crystal Cephus suffered fatal injuries about 5:30 p.m. Monday when struck by a car. The girl was attempting to cross Vermont Avenue just south of 93rd Street.

The vehicle neither slowed nor stopped, continuing south on Vermont “at a high rate of speed,” said Chris Burch, a spokesman for the CHP’s West Los Angeles office.

The sole witness interviewed by investigators could describe the car only as brown.

“We’re trying to get the message out that maybe someone (else) out there may have seen something,” CHP Officer Pablo Torres said. “Any bit of information that we can get would be greatly appreciated.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CHP Officer Nancy White at (310) 670-0938.
